“Wiley
Kielly” (a.k.a. Bigfat) has been strutting her stuff
on the field for many years now. After a sensational 2004
season, this Stella vet returns to the field to do more damage,
shutting down all the ins and making defenders eat dust.
Anyone who knows Jane knows that animals are a huge part
of her life. Dr. Kielly works as a large animal vet, driving
across Ottawa and its surrounding suburbs to answer their
calls of distress. Some of her cases are quite unusual.
She once mended a horse’s leg after it had been bitten
by a llama.
In her spare time (amazingly, Jane manages to find some
on top of working 14 hour days, attending practises and
tournaments, training for ultimate, and maintaining an impressive
six pack), Jane studies horseback riding. Her latest accomplishment
is mastering the art of dressage.
Jane also has a few pets of her own—her beloved dogs
Tessa and Tulip.
After years of observing, caring for and cavorting with
animals, Jane’s teammates are a little worried that
she might be spending a bit too much time with her furrier
friends. At a recent tournament, a keen fan described her
in the following way:
“Of note in the final was the intense play of Purple's
captain (Jane Kielly); she selectively marked throwers like
a small, ferocious and rabid animal.”
