Stella is growing!  She is now one unified woman’s program with one name and two teams.

Inspired by the success of the club-system model in other sports, please welcome Stella A and Stella B to Ottawa!  Stella is the women’s Ultimate club designed to expose you to women’s Ultimate and develop your skills in a fun, challenging and friendly environment.

Captains

Jaime Boss and Sandra Shaddick  are returning as captains to Stella A.  Stella B will kick off the summer under the wings of Cheryl Wadasinghe, an experienced women’s Ultimate player with several summers on Stella and Scarlett.

Practices

Stella will practice every Tuesday and Thursday.  Occasionally she will join other women’s Ultimate players for half-day weekend practices in May and June.  Weekend practices will provide players with a chance to mingle with some of Ottawa’s finest Ultimate players.  They are great for added coaching and development opportunities.

Tournaments

Stella A  expects to attend TUF, Boston Invite, Jazzfest, No Borders, Ontario Regionals, and Canadian Nationals.

Stella B will refine skills by attending four tournaments between May and August: TUF or White Mountain, Jazzfest, No Borders, and Ontario Regionals.  Stella B is a flexible team.  If this schedule seems overwhelming, please talk with Cheryl.

Expectations

Stella A is a touring team focusing on team development with the goal of playing in the 2012 Canadian National finals.  Stella A is looking for female players who:

• Want to compete at the highest level in Canada
• Want to develop their individual skills and are committed to the team’s goals
• Are willing to spend their own time (at least twice a week) on additional fitness
• Are willing to learn and help mentor players on Stella B

Stella B is aimed at individual development and is flexible.  Stella B is looking for female players who:

• Want to develop their skills and have their sights set on Stella A or equivalent team
• Want focused practice time to develop individual ultimate skills
• Are willing to learn (we want coachable players!)

Assessments (Tryouts)

• Sunday, Apr-15, 8:00 – 10:00 am
• Sunday, Apr-22, 8:00 – 10:00 am
• Sunday, Apr-29, 9:00 – 11:00 pm
